one of the things i like most about the last blade 2 is its combo system. you can make 2-5 moves, each of which is a different attack, and those attacks are arranged in order of strength from most to least (strongest attacks go first). once youve activated a move, youll be able to choose one of the attacks, and if it hits, youll get to choose the strength of the next move. this could be a move that hits for a lot of damage, or a move that does little damage, so you get to choose. youre also able to link moves together, so if youre timing attacks right, youre able to do the equivalent of a 1-2-3-4-5 attack, but youll have to link them together as well.

i used to play a lot of one-on-one fighting games like street fighter ii, and then i began to get into more three-on-three and four-on-four games like ultra street fighter iv, and now i play both. although i prefer more action-oriented fighting games, there are always times where i find myself playing the slower-paced games that i enjoyed before, and that is exactly what the last blade 2 is. since youre able to link moves together, you can take advantage of the strong attack to set up a weaker one as well. you can do the opposite and weaken a strong attack in order to let you have an easier time with the previous one. either way, i found myself enjoying the change of pace that i was getting used to.

there are a few flaws, however. for one thing, theres no feeling of urgency. youre not actually playing against other people, so there isn't the same level of competitiveness that you experience in a two-player versus game. there also doesn't seem to be much strategy involved, so if youre playing against the cpu, it seems that there will be times where it just makes better moves and you can't really do anything about it. theres also some awkward camera angles that i dont like. thankfully, though, there is one redeeming quality in that the gameplay is fun. 81555fee3f
