Is it okay to decorate a non-static class with an interface?
I want to use a non-static class that implements an interface for use as a factory. My particular instance is being used as a container for enum values, but the idea should be generalizable to other types of enums and containers. My question is, is it okay to instantiate an object of a class that will then have an instance of an interface that will be passed to another class? This is a simplified example of what I mean:
public interface IMonitor
void recordEvent(Event event);
public class Monitor implements IMonitor
private Event event;
public Monitor(Event event)
this.event = event;
public void recordEvent(Event event)
//do something
public class Event{
private String name;
private Integer unit;
private Boolean active;
public Event(String name, Integer unit){
this.name = name
