Honouring God: The Gateway To Success
Every time you walk into the boxing ring youll be feeling your opponent pull his punches a little harder, but no matter how well prepared you are, Im sure your ego will always let you down. James 4:11-12 says, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, you should be acting in a lordly and generous way to everyone, without any concerns for how they might react. You should help the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, the homeless. You should be so kind that you will be as close as Jesus Christ was to the people. You should be like Christ Jesus, who was so full of generosity that he did not even refuse to help a prostitute, even though she was a woman of bad character. Proverbs 14:31 says, "Whoever boasts, let him praise the Lord, And those who rail against him, let them revile him."
Proverbs 3:27 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And do not lean on your own understanding." That doesnt mean you should make no effort or look to no one for wisdom or help. You simply should not place your total trust or faith in yourself. The Lord is the only person that has both the wisdom and the power to help us. Hebrews 11:6 says, "Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ."
The Lord allows us to come into his family through his grace. He does not expect or want anything in return. In fact, he expects us to give all that we have when we follow him. You may think, But, I know Ive been bad, Ive got a problem, I need help. Well, you are no different from anyone else in that respect. Youre only different because youre a Christian. Everyone needs help and if the Lord has allowed you to get into his family, he expects you to turn around and help the people that you met and the ones that youve never met. 81555fee3f
